Tiny Houses On TV Update

Second Tiny House Show

Tiny College HouseA few days ago, I watched a second tiny house show on TV. This is the first show of the kind that is airing in my area. I know some of you may have had access to these types of show for awhile now, but this is a first for me and I’m loving the show.

The second show featured a young lady preparing to go to college. Instead of living in residence, she chose to build herself a tiny house. Her goal was for it to cost $10,000. She came close. The final tally, including furniture and appliances, came to a little over $12,000.

She built it over a 4 to 6 month period with the help of friends and family. Much of the construction was recycled materials.

This was a smart move on her part. By building it herself, she saved lots of money. She won’t have the added expense of the cost of college housing. And she’s already got a great head-start on owning her own home.

Here’s the link if you would like to read more about the episodes.

She’s not the first person to come to the realization that this will save her money now and in the future. It’s a very mature move for someone that is in her early 20’s.

Tiny houses are popping up all over the place. People are living in them for all kinds of reasons but mostly to save money and live a better, healthier life.

These television shows are helping to get the word out and propelling it even further.
